To capture the increasing demand for convenient and reliable backup service to replace traditional backup methods, Data Harbor was established with the project of developing an Internet-based online off site remote backup software. The objective was to provide a low-cost, automated and reliable backup solution to the business communities. The Data Harbor Backup Technology was first drafted in September 2000 and was launched four months later. This also marked the first official release of the online off site remote backup software.

With constant introduction of relevant features, the online backup service was becoming very successful. Eventually, service providers had started licensing Data Harbor 's software to offer their own online remote backup services, and enterprises had begun using Data Harbor software to fulfill their internal backup needs.
